Happy New Year, year one! This is not the way we wanted to start our new year but everyone has...
Year 1 News
What wonderful writers you have been Year 1! We have really enjoyed learning about monkeys and gorillas We began by asking questions and finding out lots of information . As we read facts, we thought about whether the sentence was about a description, their diet or about their habitat. We now know that gorillas are herbivores, and they live in a group called a troop. During our writing time we have learnt to 'think it, say it, like it, write it check it.' Our sentence writing has been fantastic as we have been writing fact files too. What a busy week Year 1!
Our Numeracy learning has been centred around taking away. We have used a number line to answer questions on Elmer's back and today we have been writing our own take away questions using the biggest number first.
In Science we have been learning what carnivores, herbivores and omnivores are. I really enjoyed listening to your choices when you chose which diet would be your favourite plate of food. I think I would definitely choose an omnivore meal. Our ICT time was great fun as we used the iPads to research Gorillas and learnt about what a link is.
We are also finding out more about Mr George from Chester Zoo. We think we might have found a link to Wybunbury Church so with a little more detective work, we may have some new facts to share.
A super week Year 1.
See you all on Monday,
Mrs Pointon
