This week in Maths, we have been learning about Common Factors, Prime Numbers, Square Numbers and...
Year 1 news
Year 1 had a busy week before half term. The children all finished off their stories based on 'The Tiger who came to Tea' and wrote them up into their own books. They were very proud to become real life 'authors' like Julia Donaldson! We also drew our own illustrations on each page! The 'authors' then had the opportunity to read their stories to the class which we all enjoyed! In maths, our learning was based around coin recognition and the value of these coins. We used Numicon to help us and used the coins to find the total of two or more items in the class shop. We then had a game of bingo to consolidate our learning. The children played very well and there was lots of loud shouts of 'BINGO!!' Please continue to show your child coins at home and when you have chance when visiting the shops.
A huge thank you to everyone who was able to attend the year 1 fundraising night out. A lovely evening was enjoyed by all. With thanks to those who attended, Firenze of Nantwich, and a couple of kind donations, we were able to raise £72 for the year 1 fundraising piggy bank! There are several fundraising opportunities coming up, in the run up to Christmas. These will be fundraisers for the whole school. More Year 1 fundraising events will be planned for the new year, through to the summer term. Please speak to Sarah (Joseph's mum) or Heather (Harriet's mum) if you have any fundraising ideas, and/or willing to help with an event.
I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
