We look forward to welcoming you all back to Spring 2 half term tomorrow — Monday 22nd February. ...
Year 1 News
This week Year 1 have been authors, scientists and weather detectives.
In Literacy our focus has been writing story sentences. To begin with we sung a sentence rhyme and then we set about writing our story sentences. We have been great authors and we enjoyed sharing our stories with each other. Checking our sentences make sense has given us lots of confidence to be more independent. Well done Year 1.
Year 1 are now experienced weather reporters during this week's work in Science. Within our classroom we have a number of weather maps to help us show the weather. It was great to hear our weather reporting language, 'temperatures,' 'degrees,' and we also knew that it was a map of 'the United Kingdom.' We began the week learning about seasons and what different weather symbols look like, and and by the end of the week we were reporting the weather in the morning, afternoon and later on. We can now talk confidently about how the weather can change over the course of a day.
In Maths our focus has been to learn about 1 more and 1 less and to compare quantities of numbers. Exploring 1 less was fun as we worked with a partner to find a number and then show 1 less on a number line. On Friday we have played a quiz which was a great team job. We really tried hard to share our answers with the best Maths words. We even had to try and prove our answers were right.
Our Harvest worship practices have really taken shape this week. We would like to invite you next Thursday 4th October at 9.15am to share the importance of Harvest.
I hope you are all have a lovely weekend.
