Well done everyone! We have made it to the end of this half term of home learning!!This week in PE...
Year 1 News
A great week in Year 1. The story called Peter's Pebbles has been a huge hit and we have loved linking lots of our learning to the themes in the story. Within the story we find out that Peter likes to collect pebbles. So off we went in our school grounds to collect and role play finding our pebble for the first time. We used this to plan a story all about a magic pebble. First we decided what our pebble could change into and with this we used some of the language in the story to show how quickly it changed...immediately, all of a sudden, at that moment. We have now decided what will happen at the end of the story and we have some very imaginative ideas!
We would like to say a big thank you to Cheryll Hitchin who organised for our class to create 'Love on the rocks' pebbles. This was a lovely afternoon as we created pebbles with pictures and messages. This weekend we have the opportunity to hide our pebbles and write on a tag where they have been hidden. One member of Year 1 brought her own Love on the Rocks pebble into school and talked about where she had found it. I wonder how far our pebbles will go?
In Numeracy this week we have been doing lots of counting forwards and backwards, and exploring number sequences so much so that we were able to work how the number sequences had been sorted. We enjoyed the challenge when the numbers were presented as words and went on to work out the missing numbers in a number line. By Friday we had moved on to learn more about one more. We have worked hard to play games together and used our giant number line in our classroom to help us.
In RE we have started to think about our topic Good News and shared all the good news that is happening in school and at home. We listened to each other's good news and drew pictures to go with it. It was lovely to hear such thoughtful comments.
This week we have also joined together with Year 2 and 3 to practise our Harvest songs for our worship, and Year 1, you have shown what a great team you are as you work with Year 2 and 3 pupils. We look forward to inviting Mums and Dads on Thursday 4th October.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend.
