Year 1 News
Our learning in Numeracy this week has been wondeful. Learning about and exploring sequences, counting vehicles and learning how numbers are written as words have all taken place this week. As a class we went outside to count the vehicles that passed by school. We practised recording numbers as tallies and then went on a number hunt around the classroom to find numbers written as words. I have been very impressed by the way Year 1 have been recording numbers this week.
In Literacy our focus has been finding out about capital letters whilst looking at different invitations. We have also introduced our Author Books. Writing about dinosaurs, the zoo, my family and foxes followed. It was great to see how independent we were when we started to get to know our new spelling job too. We now have some actions to go with look, say, cover, write and check.
We have also begun practising for our Harvest worship and created Harvest based artwork. Two bikes arrived in our classroom on Wednesday to help us find out more about wheels and axles. We enjoyed designing our own vehicle and we are looking forward to making and testing our vehicles next week.
See you on Monday.
