So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Year 1 News - The Fire of London
Breaking News..... Year 1 have been acting out the story of the Great Fire of London. It was great to see everyone taking part and performing in teams on the stage. Acting out the story has given us lots of ideas for our writing, and we have been using words to help us make our sentences longer.
We have had a wonderful week learning all about 3 D shapes. Our 3D shape language has developed to now say words like faces, corners/vertices and more 3 D shape names. We have been comparing shapes, sorting shapes and finding out about the key facts. Today we had a challenge to design a Pudsey bear for the year 3017 with only straight edges. Our designs were fantastic.
In our afternoons we have continued to find out more information related to how did they put the fire out?, and then go on to learn about Samuel Pepys. What a busy week for us all. For one activity we went outside in two teams and acted out how they would put the fire out using the leather buckets at the time. We have also used the computer to create Great Fire of London artwork and we are starting to think about how computers can be helpful compared to painting with paints and brushes.
A super week Year 1.
See you all on Monday.
