This week our week has been full of super heroes, sculptures and super sentences.

In Literacy we have read a story about Eliot the Midnight Superhero and this has given us lots of exciting things to think about; writing about taming a lion and designing a rocket launcher have been great fun. We have also got to know how our sound mats can help us be independent writers too.

In Maths we have been looking at our number formation, counting collections and we have took part in activities to find out our number knowledge. Year 1, I can tell you really enjoy working with numbers and our 100 number hunt game has been popular this week.

Our afternoons have been really fun as we have learnt about sculptures in art. We began by learning about a sculptor called Jill Townsley and we learnt that sculpture can be made out of lots of different materials. We sketched our favourite sculpture, explored making different sculptures and then took a line 'for a walk.' Today we worked in groups to create wire sculptures and we have used lots of techniques to twist and shape the wire.

On Thursday we took part in a computing session and we all got to grips with an app that allows us to morph into a Superhero! We created our own superhero name and decided what our super powers would be. Then the fun began when we altered the colours, sound effects and costumes. A great morning all round.

Our Oliver Jeffers book has been to a few more houses this week and we will be reading the story as a class very soon.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Pointon
