We have been wonderful learners this week and our independence and enthusiasm for all our activities has been great to see.

In Literacy our focus has been writing a letter to the Gorilla using as many adjectives as possible. Our activities with Miss O'Shea have given us the opportunity to play games and practise using adjectives in different sentences. On Thursday Miss O'Shea put all the letters in an envelope ready to send to the Gorilla.

We have been challenging ourselves in Maths this week to look at the pattern of our number bond to 10 facts and link this to how we learn our number bonds to 20, and then today our number bonds to 100. it has been great to see how we are using bead strings and numicon to help work out our answers.

Our learning in the afternoons has been focussed on finding out about the History of Chester Zoo. Our starting point was to learn about what a timeline is and then link it to George Mottershead, 'Mr George,' who is the founder of Chester Zoo. We created a timeline of his life and this revealed some very interesting facts. One exciting link was that he opened a flower shop in Shavington before moving to Chester, another was that he was a soldier in World War 1. It was lovely to hear our responses when we reflected on how important he is. 'He built a zoo and he wanted the animals to have more freedom,' 'he hated animals behind bars.' Some of our photos today show the posters we created to encourage people to visit Chester Zoo. We were excited to show them to Mrs Chesters who was very impressed. In our art lesson we looked at animal mosaics and after we read the story Elmer, we had great fun making our own animals in the style of Elmer and Im sure you will agree that they all look fantastic!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Pointon
