So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Year 1 News
Our week has been full of celebrations linked to our reading this term. Wow, Year 1 we have made some great steps forward in our independent reading this half term. I bet you are looking forward to reading at home with your adults over half term.
In our writing time we have been describing a storm, from the story The Storm Whale. This is a great read if you haven't come across this book already. As we used new describing words, we put these ideas into a poem and today we read them out with our best poet voices! The photo show how we recreated a stormy ocean.
This is an example of one of our poems. Can you guess if it is yours? Every single poem was fantastic.
Crashing and dangerous waves
Howling wind, windows shatter to pieces
Powerful and charging sea
Loud crashing waves.
In Maths we have been halving numbers and learning about quarters. We talked about quarters linking to 4 equal spaces.
Our Geography focus has been linked to learning about the United Kingdom. This week we have learnt more about Wales and Northern Ireland. On the way home today, it was lovely to see two girls from our class shout over when they had found these countries on the large map on the playground.
Have a super half term holiday Year 1,
Mrs Pointon
