In our maths time this week, we have been investigating with Numicon. We have been finding different ways of making ten and thinking of rhymes to help us remember these sums. We have also introduced some fun counting games to get our brains ready for our maths lessons! We have been learning to record our sums too, using the + and = signs. We also made a HUGE train track using lots and lots of numicon pieces. The children had to work out what numbers they needed and whether they needed an odd or an even piece. It looked very impressive!!

In our literacy time, we have been looking at traditional tales, especially Little Red Riding Hood. We listened to a few different versions and then wrote our own story. Do you have this story at home? How is it the same/different to the stories we have read in school? The children worked in their 'big books' to write their stories and were very proud! ! We had two handwriting queens this week and one handwriting king, wearing the crowns with pride! Lovely writing year 1.

In the afternoons, we have been rehearsing for our Harvest service. Keep learning those lines at home year 1! We are excited to share our service with you.
