Year 1 and our Lighthouse Adventures

Home » News » Year 1 and our Lighthouse

We have enjoyed our first week back and have been busy getting to know the characters in our class story The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. Mr Grinling, the hard working lighthouse keeper, sent us a package with a miniature lighthouse, a small sailing boat and some keys. We read the story and Mr Grinling asked for our help...How could he get his lunch to the lighthouse without the pesky seagulls stealing it? We thought of lots of ideas and posted our letters off to the lighthouse. We then had another letter from the Grinlings asking us for our help again! They told us they have a leaking tap in the lighthouse and luckily we knew Anita, our caretaker, would be the right person for the job! So we wrote to him again and arranged a visit for her to help.

In our Big Art sessions, we made some seagulls with paper mache and paint and made our own lighthouse picture using layering techniques.

The children have decided that they would like a theme day based around our stories. Please look out for the email with further information.
