Y6 visit Carding Mill Valley

Home » News » Y6 visit Carding Mill Valley

Year 6 have had a fantastic day at Carding Mill Valley in Shropshire. We started geography week with a field trip to complete a river study and back in school we will be comparing the measurements we took on the upper and lower river. Chris and Rob, our National Trust guides, were very impressed with your knowledge of rivers and landscapes. It was a fantastic place to see all the geographical features we have found out about in class. There was plenty of maths work done in measuring the valley and river, recording the water depths and flow rates, we even used a clinometer to measure the angle of descent in the river. We completed our day with a walk up the valley to the reservoir and then up on to the summit of two valleys. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and did some fantastic geography (and literacy, maths, science and history too!) work.
Well done Year 6 — you should sleep well tonight after all that walking!
