We look forward to welcoming you all back to Spring 2 half term tomorrow — Monday 22nd February. ...
Y6 News of the Week
A full week of learning has taken place in Year 6 this week.
We continued to develop our negative number knowledge and have used it to reason word problems. This is an area we have found tricky and we will continue to practice. We will be moving onto a new concept next week involving addition and subtraction.
This week in Book Club we have focused on expression. We have used our novel and speech to develop this further.
In English we have completed, edited and published our PGL recounts. We have worked hard on presentation this week and we are very proud of our published pieces. We will now be moving on to diary writing next week.
We began our Geography unit this week by recapping our previous knowledge on continents, oceans and different map terminology. We then looked at the countries Germany invaded during the first year of WW2 by playing a plasticine game. Whilst playing the game we generated questions for discussion.
We have practised and performed our first, class worship this week. Our focus was on resilience and how we used it during our PGL visit. Many thanks to all of you that were able to join us and make our worship fun to share.
We have also been busy practising our KS2 Harvest Worship this week and we hope you can join us next week in church.
In Music this week we continued to learn I'll Be There. We are working hard to understand the importance of posture, and breathing correctly when singing.
PE this week focused on hockey skills.
We finished our week with formal Friday. We completed a spelling test and an end of unit place value test. We marked all our homework and a book club task too. New homework has been set.
Have a wonderful weekend Y6, you deserve it. I am proud of you.
