Y6 News of the Week

Home » News » Y6 News of the Week

These weeks are disappearing fast in year 6, although we still have so much to fit in!

We have completed our final English piece this week. I am so proud of how far you have all come in your writing and how prepared you are for high school. Well done year 6.

Theme park Maths this week has continued. We have now all completed our park floor plans and kept our purchases up-to-date on our budget sheets. We have had several business meetings to ensure everyone has their roles within each partnership and we are now in the process of developing a brochure to market our product.

Our podcasts are now ready to record. We have developed our characters based on our artefact finds and begun to create scripts. We are hoping to complete these next week.

Our new Science unit has got underway this week. We are investigating the Circulatory System; the heart, blood vessels and the blood. Using research books, we spent time working as a table team to describe and select our top ten facts. We will continue with this unit next week.

PE has continued this week with a science strand. Children have investigated their resting heart rates and compared them to rates after exercise. Practice is definitely needed for these readings to become more accurate! The Daily Mile and Mindful Monday has also taken place this week.

Our artistic skills have been put into practice as we spend time creating features of a river using a watercolour. I'm so impressed with the results so far. These pieces will look fabulous in our studywork books.

Mrs Whittingham has taught music this week. Children have chosen a well known song to create lyrics that will fit in well with their Wybunbury memories. Developing these compositions will continue next week.

PC Nick came in to see year 6 this week. He delivered a presentation on anti social behaviour and what this looks like in our community. Year 6 were a credit to our school as they listened and directed extremely good questions his way. Super job.

The weather is finally looking promising for a short while so I hope you are able to play out and enjoy your weekend.

Mrs B.
