Welcome back Y6. It is lovely to see you all back looking so well rested and ready for your final half term at Wybunbury Delves. I am privileged to share it with you.

We began our week by collecting all our microbe experiment evidence and analysing the results. The micro-organisms had definitely grown that was for sure! Keep those bags zipped was the suggestion! We recorded the results and drew labelled diagrams. Our experiment has been used to develop a piece of scientific writing in English. The aim, hypothesis, variable, constant, equipment, method, results and conclusion have all been included in our scientific report. A great job completed by all. We will move onto a new piece of narrative writing next week.

In History this week we have explored Anglo Saxon artefacts. We have considered different items and discussed their uses in times gone by. We also spent some time researching facts about various items and we will use these items to create a podcast in computing next week.

We began a new Geography unit this week as we investigated the human and physical features of Scotland. Using an online map we identified different parts of Scotland and even read about the Loch Ness monster! We will continue with this unit next week.

Our Art unit on Thomas Gainsborough has now been completed. We put the final touches to our class painting and pieced the sections together. The painting will be placed in our classroom for all to see. We have now moved onto creating a landscape of a Scottish loch. Our blending techniques have allowed us to produce some lovely watercolour work. Well done Y6.

French has taken place in Y6 today. We have continued to work on our greetings and learned the french alphabet. Our French singing has helped with this too as we followed an alphabet song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xuZxGirWQI.

PE this week had a hockey focus. Thank you to Miss Holland and Mrs Jenkins for organising the Team Lewis football match between Y5 and Y6. I am super proud of the sportsmanship showed by my Y6 players and of course of the great result. Y5 1 — Y6 2

Date to note: swimming gala is next Tuesday 11th during the morning if your child is involved.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs B
