We have been working hard in year 6 this week.
In Maths, we recapped short and long multiplication including multiplying decimals. Formal methods have been our focus. We will move onto division next week.

In English this week, we completed our persuasive speeches. We added emotion and carefully edited to create powerful pieces of writing. Next week we will begin a new unit of writing.

This week In Book Club, we used a set of sentences to identify different words and their meanings. We then used the context of each sentence to explain our answers.

We continued with our Science unit this week, Evolution and Inheritance. We used different habitat settings to identify the adaptations needed to survive and the challenges faced in each one. We will continue to investigate this further next week.

We completed our Friday tests today, discussed, and marked our SpaG homework. Each week we work through Spag.com online homework and talk through each question carefully.

In RE this week, we focused on Holman Hunts painting of Jesus Light of the World. Our discussions concentrated on the story behind the painting. We also identified the elements of light within his painting. Our lesson finished with a photo story of images of Jesus and a song, Our Servant King.

We have spent time with our reception buddies this week, preparing for their New Starters service. We have written some lovely descriptions that are ready to share next week in church.

We have taken part in different sports games today as a taster for a half term club.

Another great week in Y6. Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs B.
