Welcome back it is lovely to see you all.
This week we continued with our multiplication and division unit focusing on long multiplication. We have used our grid method skills to apply to our long multiplication technique. We have shared top tips for successful calculating and we have grown in confidence. We will now focus on division next week.
In English we began by editing our letters to Mr King. We then used a piece of music along with a video as a story stimulus. This piece allowed us to plan our story and think about the mood it would reflect. I am so pleased with our focus and determination to write with feeling. Well done Y6. We will finish our stories next week.
In spelling this week we have looked at alternative ways of learning spellings, particularly statutory spellings. We have used mnemonics, rhyming, pyramids and many more to support our learning.
Our History continued this week as we completed our spitfires which are now ready to hang on our wall.
We began one of our DT projects this week which fits in nicely with Remembrance Sunday. We have used art in textiles to create an impressive poppy which will form part of our studywork front covers. We designed, created templates and practised stitching to bring texture to our poppies. Running, back, seed, cross and French knot stitches have all been tried. Beads and buttons have been added too. They are coming along nicely.
We finished our week with a Remembrance worship. We created an ice sculpture of a poppy on our yard with ice balloons and enjoyed stories from WW1 and WW2. This week our formal Friday only included an arithmetic paper and a times tables test. There is new homework set.
Thank you for bringing in your artefacts and continuing to bring our History to life.
What a super week we have all had. You have worked hard and applied yourselves well to all my tasks. Great job Y6.
