Y5 Weekly News
Another busy week in year 5.
In Maths we have completed our subtraction investigating and we have begun to look at a new method of multiplication, short multiplication. This method has been a big hit in year 5 and we are looking forward to mastering it further next week.
In English this week, we have completed our persuasive writing using persuasive phrases to convince our reader that testing is the way to go. Next week we will bring our report to a close with a conclusion.
We have introduced the year 5 reading list during Book Club this week. We are excited about the badges and some of us have already completed a book review from a previous read. Just one!
We have continued with our History unit this week, our clay pots are now on display in our window showing our designs. We have focused on the Ancient Greek timeline and have enjoyed watching a documentary to bring this alive. We will continue to focus on the timeline next week as we prepare for our educational visit to Manchester Museum.
Our spelling focus this week has been on homophones. Our set homework reflects this learning.
In Music we have played the glockenspiels along to the rock song 'Don't stop believing'. We listened to our performance to spot the areas we could improve on.
In PSHE we have taken part in a follow up workshop. We have all received information to bring home and booklets to complete in school.
We have completed our spelling test today and then tackled our addition and subtraction assessment. Due to this assessment we have not completed our times tables or mental maths test.
Well done Y5 for a fabulous Harvest celebration. We hope you all enjoyed the harvest message and the wonderful singing.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Mrs B.
