Another brilliant week in Y5 has passed.

In English this week we finished our unit on persuasive writing and all wrote a persuasive letter to the chief examiner of Aramanth, Mr Maslo Inch. We had to persuade him to either keep the testing system or to abolish the system all together. The children argued lots of different viewpoints and issues such as freedom, control and liberty. Children used all the persuasive devices and techniques to produce some very persuasive and well-argued letters, well done guys!

In Maths we began our unit on addition and subtraction. Children recapped the rules through creating posting. We then taught one another through our posters. We looked at why we use column addition and some of the rules we need to remember. We then went on to apply this knowledge through word problems. We decided our next YouTube video would be around this topic and that we could help the Y3's and Y4's with their column addition too, look out for these videos on our channel very soon!

On Monday we held our Harvest Service at the church and did a fantastic job of relaying the message of harvest. Children sang beautifully and spoke powerfully too, a huge well done! I was very proud watching us at church, as I'm sure all the parents were too.

In Computing we looked at building code all around speed and movement. We used Espresso Coding to create games. It was so fun trying to get our cars to stop at the right point, with Evie and Amelie managing to stop their car exactly at the right spot, well done girls!

I hope you have an awesome weekend,

Mr Dale
