Measurement continues to be the focus in Maths as we move onto reading timetables using the 24 hour clock. We have used empty number lines to calculate time differences in word problems and we have also worked with squared and cubed numbers.

In English we have completed our rainforest descriptions ready to publish in our study work books.

During Book Club this week, we have read information on the deforestation of rainforests and used it to answer comprehension questions fully. We will use this information during our music lessons to create powerful raps.

Our Science unit Earth, Sun and Moon continued this week as we debated the theories of Copernicus and Galileo. We put our points of view forward thoughtfully and discussed the points fully. Well done Y5. We spent time working through the questions we generated last week and enjoyed finding out new information.

This week in Geography we looked at the countries surrounding the Amazon and created fact files on each.

Our RE unit continued this week with the Islamic Faith, we focused on the 5 Pillars of Islam and what these mean to a Muslim.

During Music this week we learnt a new rap and will use its beat to create one of our own.

Our PE focus this week was on cricket.

Have a great weekend, Mrs B.
