With Easter fast approaching we have begun our service practices this week. A great job has been done by all, speakers and singers have come together maturely. We are well on our way to sharing a lovely celebration with you next week.

Our debates have come in useful in English, we have now planned our balanced arguments and written our first drafts. This piece of work will sit nicely next to our Snowdon watercolours in our study books.

With the completion of our fractions, percentages and decimals unit in Maths we have now checked our skills with an end of unit assessment.

Computing has taken place today with SketchUp experts sharing their knowledge with other class friends. Thank you for all your help. We have had the MIPs out as well, using ipads to instruct them to move.

Science week began in year 5 with an experiment to encourage the growth of mould. We hypothesised on where in school would be the best place to rub a potato to aid the growth of mould. All sorts of places were suggested, we have now placed our potatoes in light and dark areas to investigate, let the growth begin!
Our second experiment was to investigate the process of osmosis, a new term in year 5. We have set out four plants in coloured water to see which plant uses the process of osmosis quickest, celery, cabbage, short stemmed flower and long stemmed flower. Observations are underway.
Our mini bottle greenhouses are prepared and ready, our stem and leaf cuttings have been planted to investigate propagation, another new term to year5. We are propagating new plants from parent plants and we are hoping for healthy plantlets.
Smaller science investigations have been on-going, we have had fun growing small jelly squares and being amazed by liquids turning to solids.

A quick reminder that end of term spellings will be tested on Tuesday.

Have a great weekend. Mrs Burns
