So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Y5 News
Thank you for supporting cancer research with our sponsored silence. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hours of silence and made good use of our whiteboards when communicating. I have passed on all your contributions which are greatly appreciated. If you have any further contributions to send in, could I ask for these to now be sent into class as soon as possible.
Measurement has finally come to end in Y5 as we tackled the area and volume of composite shapes. We completed our end of unit assessment and will now move on to recapping our addition and subtraction skills.
In English we have begun a new unit on persuasive writing. We have focused on two books, The Tin Forest and Dinosaurs and all that rubbish. Within this unit we have researched facts on recycling and why this is important to our planet. We are now planning our letter to Mrs Notcare convincing her of all the reasons to care for our planet.
During Book Club this week, we have read information on recycling to support our learning in English.
This week in Geography we looked at the human and physical features of South America. We found out about the Atacama Desert and how communities were surviving in this region. We will continue with our learning next week.
During Music we have begun to write our own rainforest raps to the tune of a hip-hop rap called Stop. We are thoroughly enjoying this unit.
We completed our field events this morning and we are hoping the weather is kind to us on Wednesday to allow sports day to go ahead.
Just a quick reminder about statutory spellings. We will complete our final test on these on Friday 26th May.
Have a great weekend, Mrs B.
