Great work this week year 5.

In Maths we have applied our new short multiplication skills in different ways. We have also investigated prime numbers and factors. We have used our times tables to identify them both.

In English this week, we have begun to look at information texts and identified their features. We have used our school iPads to research different Ancient Greek city-states and created mind maps. We have linked our learning to Ancient Greece and our history unit and will continue with this next week.

During book club this week we have read different information texts on Ancient Greece. We have used our fact retrieval skills to answer comprehension questions fully.

This week we have continued to focus our spelling lessons on homophones. We have had an inter house homophone competition to consolidate our learning.

Are we global citizens? A question we asked ourselves in RE this week. We completed a class survey to find global links and then plotted them onto our world map. We found that our links were mainly with Europe although some were as far away as Australia and Dubai.

We have a wonderful opportunity to take part in a four-week programme of French run by Shavington High School. Our first lesson took place on Monday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We are focusing on food and drink.

Our music unit is coming to an end for this half term. We have improved our singing whilst playing the glockenspiels and we are hoping to perform to Mrs Casserley next week.

We have begun our computing unit this week. We refreshed our coding skills in readiness for next week.

Our week came to a close with our weekly swimming lesson, thank you Mrs Casserley and Mr Cornes for taking us. Have a fantastic weekend.

Mrs B.
