Y5 News: Planet Earth 2.5
This week we have been documentary writers, geographical explorers and music video producers...
In English we started and finished a new unit all around David Attenborough documentary writing styles. We watched clips, picking out key language and phrases. We linked our documentary to the Amazon Rainforest and made sure our writing was informative, packed with emotion and of.course EPIC. We will upload our narrations over a Planet Earth style video next week.
In Maths we finished our unit on angles and also completed our assessment. The children are now confident in both naming and drawing angles. Whilst now also having the confidence and knowledge to work out missing angles.
In Computing children carried on producing their SPaG mazes and also researched facts about the Amazon, in preparation for our English writing.
In Geography we began our new topic all about South America. We focused on what the continent looks like and which countries surround the collosal Amazon Rainforest.
We also continued with our Kandinsky Maths study work page. Putting the finishing touches to our masterpieces.
In Music we began to piece together our Don't Stop Believin music video. Looking at key actions.
In R.E we continued to focus upon promises and looked at the word 'covenent'. Children focused upon the 10 commandments and what these mean to a Christian.
Have a fantastic bank holiday,
Mr Dale
