So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Y5 News of the Week
I am so proud of my year 5's, you have handled all of your assessments this week brilliantly. Well done.
In Maths we completed our unit on short division including our multiplication and division assessment. We have now begun a new unit focusing on statistics.
In English this week, we have begun to investigate instructional writing. We have followed instructions by playing a card game and we have used our checklists to spot the features of this type of writing. We will continue with this unit next week.
During book club we have focused on different types of reading assessments.
This week we continued to investigate the correct use of apostrophes and began to look at the use of hyphens in our spelling lessons.
In our Geography unit we completed our Great Lakes documentary and created our own water coloured maps. We have gone on to publish this information into our study work books.
We continued our Science unit this week, focusing on the physics strand of Forces. We are very excited to be creating our own Landsailers to investigate the force of friction. This week we looked at different types of landsailers and then designed our own. Our experiment will include landsailer races on different floor surfaces to investigate friction.
We have taken part in a salsa music lesson this week. Using different instruments, the salsa sound could be heard all the way down our corridor, I loved it.
In PE we have focused on athletics.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend and a well-earned rest.
Mrs B.
