So what are we up to in class?
In maths we have been focussing on written addition strategies and started this by working out flight distances from Addis Ababa to London via different cities to link with our class story — Dani's mum has to fly from Ethiopia to London for an operation.
This week we will begin learning subtraction strategies.

Our science and literacy were linked this last week — looking at ice balloons as part of science work on States of Matter — solids, liquids and gases and then creating our own poems describing what the ice balloons remind us of. There were some lovely images shared by the children! We will continue to look at solids, liquids and gases this week in science — changing states — looking at both reversible and irreversible changes.

Our literacy focus will be diary writing, looking at and learning the features of this genre and thinking about the characters in our class story...what would their diary entries say at this point in the story?

Our spelling focus the '-shun' sound at the end of words! You'll see that we are targeting -tion this week but the children have also worked out that '-cian' is used at the end of 'job' words eg politician, electrician, beautician, optician...and have been challenged to find as many as they can!
