Y5 News: From sprinters to bakers!
Well there we have it! Another half term done and dusted...
This week we've been bakers, readers and sports stars.
In English we focused on our next unit; Chapter writing. We've already started to think about what we are going to include in what is surely going to be our best piece of writing in Y5!
In maths we wrapped up our unit on decimals. We then completed our assessment. Well done everybody, you all showed great effort and resilience!
During book club we talked through comprehension questions in pairs and groups, thinking about how best to answer them! We looked at nonfiction and fiction texts.
But the big news of the week was the exciting suprise that Roberts Bakery came to visit to kick-start our D&T unit on bread making. We wore aprons, hair nets and were taught how to bake bread by Paul (a baker at Roberts). We learned all about the process, asking some key questions along the way. The children made some amazing bread rolls, nice one guys!
Oh, we also managed to squeeze in our sports days this week too...
Children all showed great sportsmanship and determination across all races and events. Tuesday saw us throwing the javelin, jumping the long jump, launching the bean bag and racing the cross country! Whilst on Wednesday parents came to see us race against each other. A big congratulation to Green Team who reigned victorious!
Have a lovely bank holiday and a fantastic half term break,
Mr Dale
