Our week has been a busy one...

In Maths we have focused on fractions, comparing them by converting to equivalent fractions and using our skills to then tackle word problems. We have also gone on to turn improper fractions into mixed numbers and vice versa. We will continue with fractions next week.

In English we have begun to look at balanced arguments. We began by discussing the good and bad points of CCTV in school classrooms and then went on to debate the question, should teachers be allowed to give detentions to pupils after school? The points were discussed in a mature way with all children encouraged to be respectful of each others opinions. This has lead us nicely onto part of our Geography unit looking at Mount Snowdon and the affect animals and tourists have on it. We have begun to list for and against points and will now go onto planning our balanced arguments next week.

Our visit today to Wood Lane Nature Reserve was thoroughly enjoyed by all. From the trailer ride to the industrial recycling centre, bird watching to map reading and enjoying our lunch looking over the Mere. Another great trip towards our John Muir Award.

We are looking forward to Science week next week, delving into the weird and wonderful and making good use of our plastic bottles with our own science experiment, thank you for sending them in.

I hear I am recruiting some SketchUp Make experts as many children have downloaded the product and will be able to share their skills next week. Great news.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. Mrs Burns
