A wintry week in year 5...

In English we have begun to write traditional tales, we have investigated language features and explored using direct speech in the correct way. We are presently editing our first draft ready to conclude our stories next week.

In maths this week we have continued to develop our column addition and subtraction skills, applying them to word problems. We have also looked at larger numbers and their place value, even cracking a code!

We have been lucky to receive a visit from Cheshire Fire Safety Officers this week. Your children have been made aware of the safety procedures they should follow if they ever found themselves in a house fire. We were given a guided tour around the engine finding out that an on board kettle is even a feature.

We have published our descriptive writing in our study books this week and we are feeling proud.

PE this week has involved learning the techniques needed to play netball. Please ensure that winter PE kits are available as the weather temperature drops and our sessions are predominantly outside.

We have moved on to playing a 5 note swing today in music and continued to create our leaflets on Judaism.

Have a great weekend.
