This week we have been internet safety experts, interfaith extraordinaires and have completed magnificent money maths problems!

In Maths this week we finished our unit on multiplication and division. We used our knowledge to work out multi step problems and word problems too. During our arithmetic starter we had even begun to multiply 3 digit numbers by a 1 digit number this week! We then moved on to our new unit on money. We started by recapping the coins and notes we already knew and of course the important facts like 100p = £1! We were then able to count money and create pounds from a range of coins. By the end of the week we were adding money together, we used our knowledge of 100p = £1 to help us, it was also great to see children using their column addition methods to help them!

In English we finished writing our newspaper reports! After editing our previous work we finished our reports by writing our eye-witness paragraph, quoting all of the important statements made by Miss McCurrie, out eye-witness. We then wrote a final statement and copied up our reports in neat for study work. Headlines and captions were then added to add the finishing touches to our news reports — take a look!

In Book Club this week we focused upon a text linked to fairy tales. We used our previous knowledge of a range of fairy tales to answer a range of comprehension questions on the text. Throughout the week we also worked on handwriting, played on our reading website and used time to quiet read, change books and write in reading diaries!

In spellings we became apostrophe hunters and used highlighters to identify apostrophes for possession for example Mr Dale's shoes. We also located words like couldn't and wouldn't for when we use apostrophes for omission.

On Tuesday we took part in Safer Internet Day, we spotted fake websites, created strong passwords and played 'Interland'. Our Safer Internet Day news has more detail on our day!

Throughout this week Y3 have been learning all about the Islamic faith. We found out lots of information about how Muslims pray and what their belief system entails. Once we had learnt lots of new knowledge we then became the teachers ourselves! The Y3 teachers created their own posters and resources and on Thursday we invited Y2 into the classroom. The children were fantastic in sharing their knowledge and Y2 learnt lots! We also got the chance to be taught by Y2. They told us all about Judaism! Check out the video of our teaching day here — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZyKmvtYX48

On Friday we went through homework and completed our weekly spellings. We also worked on our Y3/4 spellings too! In the afternoon we practised more of our Viking song in music and were able to add in some actions to our song! We added a few more details to our art study work page in the form of an interactive 'Big Art' book too!

Have a fantastic weekend,

Mr Dale
