Firstly, this week, I would like to say a big thank you to all parents who shared Literacy and Maths books with their child/ren. If there are any parents who did not manage to share books, with prior arrangement this can still be organised. We realise that it can sometimes be difficult to spend time looking through the books on the night they are sent home. Well done to the children for returning them to school the following day too so that work could be continued.

I note that several parents had commented that next steps were not available in Numeracy books. This is something we are trying to address in school as it is not as straightforward as with Literacy. I will keep you up to date with how discussions regarding this go. I have talked to the children about this today and explained that learning times tables and trying to find links within maths is always a next step so that they do have some idea of how they can help themselves to move forward.

It has been a very busy few weeks and in summary, our learning has included: script writing and dialogue in Literacy, understanding and explaining division and finding ways to record outcomes in a systematic way when problem solving in Numeracy. (The children were very quick to grasp this idea and enjoyed a series of challenges to prove they could do it very well!). We have also worked hard on reasoning about numbers and explaining maths.

Our afternoons have been spent completing study work, beginning to plan our design and technology task and thinking about miracles and the Christmas story in R.E.

New Mymaths homework has been set and can be completed any time up to Wednesday 3rd December.

Planning for our Christmas service is well under way and we will begin practising over the next two weeks.

On a final note, slips with parent's evening times have also been sent home and, if they have not been given to you, should be in children's book bags. There was one left in class this evening so please do ring or pop into the office to check your time slot if it does not appear!

Happy weekend everyone.
