In Year 3 this week:

We have completed assessments in maths and English. All children were focused and worked hard to complete assessments to the best of their ability. They showed resilience to finish the tasks and there were great learning behaviours seen. Many children said they enjoyed the chance to use their skills to prove their understanding. Well done everyone.

We've also spent time learning about word roots, and used prefixes and suffixes to build word families. We were amazed by how many words we could find to complete a word family, and were pleased to see that hard work with spelling homework helped us to use prefixes and suffixes to spell longer words accurately. We will continue to work on this over coming weeks.

In maths, some of us worked on place value, whilst others used reasoning to solve puzzles and problems. Pattern- seeking, knowledge of place value and times tables, and enjoying 'stuck challenges' helped us to complete activities successfully.

Our afternoons have been spent completing study work. This was also a chance to revisit learning about explorers and rocks and soils. We've enjoyed a computing lesson with Miss Pennance and a music lesson to practise for SingFest.

Well done to the children who took part in the fun run tonight. I was tired just watching!

Plans are underway for Mrs Leonard to support us with a Food Technology day. If there are other parents who would like to join us for this activity, more details will be sent home soon. Mrs Platt has also kindly agreed to take on the role of Year 3's parent fundraiser so there will be information regarding plans for this soon too. Thank you to both parents for their support.

Just a couple of reminders for next week:

Spelling and grammar homework is due in on Tuesday instead of Monday for next week only.
World Book day takes place on Thursday, 3rd March. Children are invited to bring in their favourite book and/or dress up as their favourite character. This is optional of course but it is always lovely to see the children in costume!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
