It has been a very busy and exciting half term in year 3. Here's a quick update on what we've been up to on our learning journey!

We welcomed Miss Newell (a final year teaching student from MMU) early in the spring term and she has shown a real dedication to ensuring lessons have been well planned, exciting and fun (as well as making sure we continue to make lots of progress).

In literacy, we have written postcards from Michael to his friends and family and explanation texts about forces, using lots of subject-specific vocabulary and work on paragraphs.

In maths, we have learnt lots about measurement and fractions. Miss Lake and Miss Newell have been so impressed with our progress!

In history, we researched explorers from the past and modern day. Later in the term we will find out more about why their expeditions took place.

Our science has been based on forces and we have enjoyed LOTS of practical tasks: exploring magnetism, air resistance, water resistance, gravity and friction. We have made tin foil boats to see if we could make them float and parachutes to investigate which worked best and why! Next half term, we will find out if our predictions about liquids were accurate.

Our RE centred on Interfaith week and we had visitors to year 3: Ann, who shared how she celebrates her Jewish faith and Jay who gave us the chance to ask lots of questions about what it means to be a member of the Hindu community. Year 3 discussed what would make a good global citizen and their responses showed real understanding of how to celebrate diversity and what would make a very peaceful society. They shared their work in a whole school worship.

We still have lots to look forward to next half term including our class trip to the Blue Planet!

Until then, have a very happy half term everyone.
