Our week started in dramatic fashion with our trip to Chester. We were enrolled in the Roman Army for 25 years and had to learn to march and defend ourselves the way that Romans did 2000 years ago. Callum was our Optia (Leader) and he gave us orders to defend ourselves against horses and against attack from above in the tortoise formation.
Later, in the museum we became archaeologists and learnt about things that have survived from Roman times. We also discovered more about how the Romans lived.
Finally, we explored the museum galleries to discover more about what the Romans had done in Chester.

Back to school and we have been writing our own Roman Myth, drawing on the work that we have done over the past two weeks.

In Numeracy we have been learning about capacity and using litres. We have been out in the garden filling containers to find out how many litres they take.

We have continued with our coding unit and have made clay tiles with flowers on. In RE we have begun to learn about the Easter story. We thought about the crowd on Palm Sunday and how they might have felt.

A date for your diary ... on Thursday 19th March we will be having a Roman Day. We will need our PE kits in the morning as we will be visiting our own Roman Baths. Come dressed as a Roman — I think I might go for a toga!

Enjoy the weekend.
