Another week has flown by in Year 1!

This week we wowed everybody with our harvest service. I am very proud of everybody as we were great (I'm sure parents will agree). Everybody gave a great performance and sang beautifully and some children were very brave when speaking in front of lots of parents! Well done Year 1!

In Maths we looked at addition and investigated number sentences. We used numicon to help us with our addition problems. We also created our own word problems, some of them were very funny! We went out into the woodland area to create our own nature number sentences, children added sticks, stones, acorns and leaves together!

In Science we had a big question to answer which was "How do we know it is autumn?". Children put on their coats, grabbed their pencils and clipboards and headed out outside to investigate. We went on an autumn scavenger hunt and found some amazing things and potentially the worlds biggest apple! We also sketched some of the woodland area, it was great fun!

In Geography children were investigating direction, linking to their map work, children created their own maps of the classroom. Mrs Pointon was very happy to hear the children using some very technical language! Mrs. Taylor taught R.E and children continued with their Christian cross work, they are looking great, I must say!

A special mention to Bryn, who gave us his first live performance of his guitar solo, it was amazing! Well done Bryn! We all loved it and gave him a big cheer at the end! Glastonbury 2017?

What a super week, well done Year 1.
