Wybunbury's World Onesie Day 2017

Home » News » Wybunbury's World Onesie Day 2017

Today was 'Onesie Day 2017'. Everybody came into school in their onesies and pyjamas to raise money for the charity JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation); a type 1 diabetes charity that aims to improve the lives of children until we find a cure.

The day was setup, amazingly, by our Fundraising team and was inspired by Fabio in Year 5. Fabio told us all about his type 1 diabetes in a whole school worship on Wednesday. He showed us a very professional powerpoint all about his daily routines, equipment but most importantly he answered the question of 'Does diabetes stop me from doing things?', to which his answer was DEFINITLEY NOT! A huge well done to Alice and Jess Y in Year 6 who helped to deliver the messages of JDRF in our worship in a confident way! A big thank you also to James H who helped with the computing side of things to ensure the worship ran smoothly. Well done guys!

It was Friday where the fun really began, as Fabio and his team were busy blowing up balloons, sticking up banners and sorting out cakes ready for the big day! A huge thank you to all of the helpers and volunteers who made the day so special. Mr Dale's classroom was a hive of activity until 8:45am when the children all arrived in their onesies...

Unicorns, reindeers, dragons, elves, bears and monkeys all flocked through the school doors with great big grins on their faces! It was wonderful to see the whole school community banded together to support a cause close to our hearts. Even the teachers got into the spirit of things as most of them looked like they had just rolled out of bed (some may well have!). A huge thank you to everybody who supported through donations.

And it wasn't just onesies that the fundraising team had prepared either, oh no! Lots of children also brought in cakes for the cake sale. Whilst colouring competitions and 'guess how many sweets in the jar' all helped to raise more money for JDRF. There were also word searches and a 'guess the name of the meerkat' competition.

Again, a huge thank you to everybody who helped make the day so special including all the children and parents who helped with donations.

A special thank you has to go to Fabio. His organisation, passion and commitment to raising money for JDRF ensured that an amazing day was had by all at school. Well done, Fabio.

We are awaiting confirmation of the final total raised and we will let you know as soon as we have the amount!

Have a brilliant, onesie-filled weekend!
