Wybunbury Moss Visit - Y2

Home » News » Wybunbury Moss Visit - Y2

A huge Thank You to Jenni from Natural England who came to school today and talked to us in assembly about Wybunbury Moss and then led our Year 2 visit to the Moss.
Year 2 were very lucky to be able to access the central moss area as we were accompanied by Jenni, Hannah and Rupert from Natural England. Access to this area is usually restricted due to the danger of the floating peat.
We were able to take turns jumping on the peat and making it wobble!
We were excited to see the house of Nellie Longarms and her kettle, although our excitement scared her away!
We learnt a lot about the different plants and animals that live on the Moss and found cranberries, cotton grass and sundew (an insect eating plant). We saw and heard a woodpecker and cows, amongst other animals.
If you would more information about Wybunbury Moss you can access their web pages @ https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cheshires-national-nature-reserves/cheshires-national-nature-reserves
I expect that Year 2 will sleep soundly tonight!
