Wonderful Week of Worms
Worm Charming and Butterflies.
These are two exciting activities that we have experienced in class this week. We have been caring for the butterflies over the last few days and we knew it was the right time to release them in the garden. We gathered around in the garden, read a story and talked about words that we would say to wish them well on their journey. Lots of voices saying 'we will miss you' were heard in the garden.
Our Year 6 buddies joined us to take part in a worm charming competition this week. As a celebration for finishing their SAT tests we transformed the field into Wybunbury Delves Worm Charming Competition. The children worked tirelessly to stamp, bang, sing and vibrate the ground to attract the worms to the surface. There was a great sense of perseverance and team work from everyone. Joining up with Year 6 also allowed us to share our amazing worm facts and show our Wormery in class.
In Literacy time we have been writing Worm Diaries and writing Menus for the worms. We have been working more independently and there has been lots more writing in our child initiated choices too.
In Numeracy our groups have been creating patterns, adding by counting lots of minibeast legs and doubling numbers.
One of our technology activities has been thinking about the technology we have available in class and using it within our learning choices. We are going to think about how we can enhance our learning choices more with cameras, video cameras, computers and digital photo frames.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Pointon
