A Wonderful Week in Reception

Home » News » A Wonderful Week in Reception

What a wonderful sunny week we have had, with a little rain to freshen us up today!

Our learning this week has been led by another super Eric Carle story, the Bad Tempered Ladybird. In class we have read the story with actions, thought about our feelings in detail and made different o'clock times on numicon clocks. It has been great to see the 'What's the time Mr Wolf?' game being played too.

The garden has been an exciting place to make shelters, enjoy the sunshine and complete lots of different role play ideas this week.

In PE we have explored how our bodies can move to look like one of the stages of the life cycle of a butterfly. We then moved on to develop our throwing skills by doing lots of target practise. We worked together with a partner to try and challenge ourselves to throw the bean bags and balls a little further each time. We are definitely keen to get race ready for sports day!

Our caterpillars are growing well and we have been working on creating our study work page to go alongside all of our learning. We have made more observations today, 'he must be making a cocoon,' 'he is making a web.' I wonder what we might see when we look at them again on Monday?
