We look forward to welcoming you all back to Spring 2 half term tomorrow — Monday 22nd February. ...
Wonderful memories!
Reception, I can't believe another half term has flown by so quickly.
Reflecting back, we have packed so much learning about minibeasts into such a short space of time, creating the most wonderful memories.
We have explored our garden environment and discovered all the amazingly busy insect life that is quietly going on around us.
We have been keen artists and created life like images of flowers and fauna inspired by the artist Georgia O' Keefe. Used household junk to create minibeasts to adorn our ceilings and walls in class. Transformed ourselves into all manner of insects for international dance day, crawling, wriggling and fluttering to the insect beat.
We have been very fortunate to learn about habitats and minibeast facts with Mr Tibbetts from MMU, who kindly brought along some of his minibeast friends to show us.
One of our most exciting days was programming robots use codeing, especially Sphero in the garden.
In our learning jobs we have focused on becoming fluent writers, using good punctuation and our phonic knowledge to sound out and write new vocabulary as well as challenging ourselves to compose different styles of writing, including poetry.
In maths we have built upon our mathematical knowledge and started to explore bigger numbers using mathematical concepts.
Our focus in RE has been Pentecost and the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how our school values are based upon these, observing how we use them in our everyday life. We have shared our learning in worship this week and created two pieces of art to depict the Holy Spirit as wind and fire for display in school.
Dressing up has featured quite a lot this term too: knights , dragons and princesses for St George's day, wedding guests to celebrate the royal wedding and our absolute favourite, as minibeasts for our ugly bug ball this week.
A huge thank you to parents who have helped create these wonderful memories with us by making the most fantastic dressing up costumes and delicious snacks for us and most importantly supporting us through all our madcap activities!
Enjoy the break and bank holiday
Kindest regards
Mrs Taylor
