What have we been doing? Preschool

Home » News » What have we been doing? Preschool

Wow, what a busy week of learning we have had.

We have been exploring colour, thinking about how to make pink, the children had lots of different paint to use and experimented lots of colour mixing until finally..... "Tara, I've made pink" "red and white make pink" well done Imogen.

Now that many of us are beginning to write our names (wow!) we have been focusing on correct letter formation and looking at our pencil grip. I can tell that lot's of children have been practising at home, keep up the good work and parents please encourage correct letter formation at home.

In phonics we have revised our letter sounds 's', 'a', 't' and 'p'. For each sound we learn a song and an action, you can find these songs online by typing Jolly Phonics into Google. The children are getting very good at recognising the sounds by sight and are thinking about words that begin with that letter sound and hearing the initial sounds in words — what superstars!
Rainbows, Butterflies and Teddies look out for your phonics home link next week in your tray.

We have used the interactive whiteboard this week to create our own pictures using the paint program. The children independently drew their picture and some of them were able to change the colour. Your pictures were printed out and they have been stuck into your learning journey.

Preschool have amazed me this week with their fantastic counting and recognition of numbers. Verity, Freddie and William you independently during your free play sorted the farm animals into groups; pigs, cows, sheep and horses. You then counted correctly using your finger how many animals were in each group. Freddie told me correctly "there's more cows cos it has the most" Verity you sorted the pigs and you were able to describe your pigs by size, "this is the mummy pig because she is big" "there's 3 little pigs" you observe correctly. You are such clever children.

Another fantastic week of learning, thank you preschool.
Tara
