What a fantastic first week we have had! The children have been busy exploring the classroom and garden and are very excited to show their buddies our tree house reading den.
In our learning we have started to explore our topic on houses and homes, drawing our own homes and talking about the features that make a house a home. Mrs Casserley popped down to see us and was amazed that we were busy learning from our story and writing sentences about ourselves.
In number work we have been exploring the shapes that we can see in homes: rectangles, squares, triangles and circles. We even spotted an octagon! We created pictures of homes like the artist Paul Horton using shapes we could identify in his artwork.
We have also been making patterns from colours, numbers, letters and shapes and have enjoyed guessing the next stage of the pattern in the Practice pattern song by Scratch garden on YouTube.
Some children have asked if they could come to school tomorrow but we decided it was best to have a little rest over the weekend and come back on Monday morning.
Have a great weekend
Kind regards Mrs Taylor
