We hope you enjoy this new collection of reimagined images and verses from Julia Donaldson and Axel...
Welcome Back Year 5!
Our first week back has flown by, with lots of new learning taking place.
In English we've spent the week looking at SPaG. We recapped on some concepts that we were less confident on and even attempted a SPaG assessment, well done guys.
In Maths we started a new topic all around angles. We thought about what we already knew and what we were a little bit unsure of. We focussed upon acute, obtuse, reflex and straight line angles. We investigated and explored what an angle was and by the end of the week we were even drawing our own angles. Watch out Kevin McCloud!
Our Big Art revolved around the artist Georgia O'Keffe. We used the Congo Rainforest as our inspiration to let our artistic vision flow. We selected a very small part of the rainforest to ensure our oil pastels were detailed, big and bold! We also recreated the front cover of our book; Gorilla Dawn. Check them out!
In book club we used our sessions to get stuck into our new book! We researched gorillas, Africa, predicted blurbs and even found out how to walk like a gorilla! We had a quiz outside in the sun to finish our week!
In R.E we started a new topic around the idea of promises, using the story of Noah's Ark to understand what a rainbow means to a Christian.
In Music we continued to work on and sing Don't Stop Believin'. We are hoping to put together an amazing YouTube video of our song in a few sessions time.
Our website page and holistic plan for the term have been updated on our class page.
Have a lovely and hopefully sun-shined filled weekend,
Mr Dale
