Welcome back Year 4

Home » News » Welcome back Year 4

It's the first week of half term and Year 4 have come back with a great working attitude. It looks like that break has done its job.

In maths this week, we have looked at multiplication. We have used counters to physically represent the question and visually see the exchanging of ones, for tens and so on. This was a fun lesson with lots of team work needed.

Within our English lessons this week, we have focused on the features and structure of newspaper reporting. We have started to write our very own newspaper report based on the events of our class story 'The Firework-Makers Daughter'.

In the afternoons, we have questioned what it means to pray, what is involved in praying and do all faiths pray? We've had to do some higher order thinking to answer these questions, which of course meant lots of discussion.

Also in the afternoons, we have investigated what sound waves look like based on the pitch/frequency and the volume of the sound. The Year 6 class have been wondering what on earth was going on, as we have been making some funny noises in our class, whoops! Sorry Year 6 but it was all in the name of science.

In other news, we have finally painted our clay plates ready for our willow pattern designs, yay! We may have had a few breakages but never fear, Mrs Casserley and Miss Rushton have a plan on how we are going salvage them and they are going to look fab.

This week has brought about a few changes too, homework will now be set and expecting in on Fridays. Don't worry, you will still have a whole week to crack on with your homework.

I am also very pleased to hear that many of you have been listening to and practising your times tables via the MP3 I have sent out, well done gang!
