Welcome Back Year 1!
Our first week back has been full of fun and excitement. We have enjoyed taking part in lots of diffferent learning opprtunities linked to the story the Tiger who came to tea.
In Literacy our focus has been to write lists and instructions to make a jam sandwich. Within this time we have been practising saying the story orally as a class. By Friday our whole class story reading was fantastic, listening to you use expression and watching you build in actions was wonderful to see.
In Maths we have been counting in equal groups and solving problems linked to animals. Our first job was to decide what equal and unequal groups look like, and then we went on to show what they looked like in sets, for example; what do 4 groups of 2 look like? We were quick to link this new learning to x tables facts, and our TT Rockstar experiences have come in very handy this week.
In our design technology work we have explored the topic of sandwiches. We looked at what we bring to school for our own sandwiches and then we drew our favourite sandwich filling. When we knew that we were going to visit Wybunbury Post Office, we were excited to find out what sandwiches they sell. Alongside this, we decided on some more questions to ask during our visit. Our class vote enabled us to find out that sausage and tuna are Year 1's favourite fillings. A huge thank you to Wybunbury Post Office for preparing these delicious sandwiches for us to try, and whilst we were there we found out why a sandwich is called a sandwich!
