Welcome Back Reception

Home » News » Welcome Back Reception

Welcome back and welcome to our Dinosaur Den! Our new topic has got off to an exciting start and our classroom has already been enhanced by dinosaurs made at home over the Christmas holidays. We have embarked on our big art projects and have created Mr Triceratops, dinosaur skeletons and a set of dinosaur footprints.

Our Numeracy brains have been busy too. As a class we have been estimating how many of our footprints will match up to the same size as a dinosaur footprint found only a few months ago. The garden has enabled us to extend our learning to make a dinosaur hunt, and Mrs Casserley and Mrs Hughes enjoyed taking part. The clues were getting quite complex by the end, well done Reception!

We have learnt all about what you would like to find out about dinosaurs. I think we have a few budding dinosaur experts in our classroom. We would like to know all about what a dinosaur would like to eat. On the topic of eating, today we have enjoyed making dinosaur biscuits with the help of a dinosaur. George kindly agreed that we could use his dinosaur to make footprints on each biscuit. I hope they tasted as good as they looked!

In RE we have begun learning about how Christians welcome babies in special ways. We thought about how we were welcomed as babies and then found out more about the Baptism ceremony. Our classroom was rearranged into a Church and Joshua M led the service and ended with prayers.

Has it really been a 3 day week — we have been very busy learners!

I wonder what dinosaur activities we will create next week....
