Welcome Back

Home » News » Welcome Back Year 4

Dear Parents,

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas Break and are looking forward to the New Year that awaits us. For the New Year, and new term, we are starting a new topic; Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The children already seem very excited (thank you for all the things that you have already let them bring in!). We have already had a Harry Potter song and some boys in the class are creating a Harry Potter club; it seems like most of the class will be attending!

This is a very exciting book and there are innumerable opportunities for learning that span across the curriculum. Please read the Holistic Plan that the children will have brought home in their 'Special' Hogwarts' envelopes for precise details regarding the children's Learning Journey this term. Also, just like last term, the children are more than welcome to bring a copy of the book into school so they are able to read along during story time.

The Year 4 timetable has slightly changed this term to accommodate the Swimming lessons that will now be taking place on a Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure your child has their swimming kit in school on Wednesday.

Also, please note that the weekly Spelling Test, Mental Maths Test and Times Table Test (highlighted) will now take place on a Tuesday.

Our Brass Instrument Lesson will continue as normal on a Tuesday afternoon and there will be another Open Lesson at the end of the term (details to follow). Thank you for all your support so far with the instruments, because without your support this wouldn't be possible. Hopefully, those of you that came to the Open Lesson got to see what a wonderful opportunity it is. The children truly excelled and it was wonderful to watch all of them looking so proud.

Kind Regards,

Miss Pennance
