We have reached half term in Y5

Half term comes to an end in Y5.

In Maths we completed our properties of shapes investigation. We made polygons and polyhedrons out of art straws and according to different criteria. We then used these properties to complete word problems.

In English we published our newspaper articles and planned our study page. We are all very proud of the results.

In spellings we completed our statutory spelling test using our mnemonics to help.

In History we completed making our tools and weapons by painting and sealing using pva, they are now ready for their handles to be added.

Our final lesson in Science this week was all about separating materials. We used different materials to separate in different ways, from sieving to filtration. We completed a class challenge using muddy water and filter paper. Who could deliver the cleanest water in a set time? Mmm, I'm not sure I will be drinking the results!

This week our PE lesson focus was dodge-ball. We have one more samba practise, we will be performing to other classes before we take part in our competition. Thank you for all your reply slips, we will continue to collect these after half term.

I have forwarded our school educational visit letter by email this week. We look forward to visiting Tatton Hall to take part in their Stone Age living history event on the 8th March 2017.

There is no new homework set for this half term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support as each week we have celebrated keeping on top of all our homework tasks. Have a lovely half term and stay safe.

Mrs B.
