We are Fantastic Authors!

Home » News » Reception News

We have been getting excited about books this week in Reception. To help us, we all brought in our favourite toy into school to take on an adventure. First of all we needed to introduce our toy to the rest of the class and then decide where the adventure would take place. We created a photo book to write our sentences in.

We have become expert writers this week. I have been really impressed by our sentences in Phonics. Whilst learning the r sound we have created lots of good sentences. We have sung a rhyme 'A sentence makes much sense, it starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop,' This has been a great way to check our sentences and Croc, our class puppet, has asked us to think about what a word is.

In Numeracy we have been learning about positional language and today we have created shape pictures to think about where each shape is using words like in between, above, next to, and under.

To continue our lantern theme we have created willow lanterns. 'We made stick lanterns', Eva Rose. 'We used sellotape so they don't fall down,' Charley . 'I can see how we made a cross and a square.' Hayden. Thank you for sharing our lanterns in worship this morning. I am looking forward to making more lanterns for our Festival of Lights Disco next week.
