Town Sports 2017
This week Wybunbury took part in the annual Town Sports competition. Children ranging from year 3 to 6 competed in both field and track events over two days.
On Monday children competed in the field events. This included javelin, long jump and the high jump. Everybody tried their best with some great individual performances along the way. Harvey Leonard from Year 5 came 3rd in his javelin event! Mani in Year 6 came first with a huge javelin throw of 26m! In the high jump Harry Bayley from year 5 won the whole event coming 1st, well done, Harry. Sammy Chesworth from Year 4 out-jumped everyone to finish 1st in the long jump, well done! A huge congratulations to everybody who competed in the field events, you did Wybunbury proud!
On Wednesday it was time for the track events. it was fantastic to see the collective squad in our pen all cheering each other on! What a team we were! There were four races including hurdles, sprint, bean bag and the relays. Everybody who competed gave it their all, well done! Throughout the night we picked up lots of certificates for finishing in the top 3 in our races! Have a look below to see...
Hattie Hughes came 3rd in the bean bag.
Katie Alexander came 1st in the hurdles.
Sammy Chesworth came 1st in the year 4 boys sprint.
Ethan Sammons came 1st in the boys bean bag.
Harry Seiler, Rhys Edwards, Oliver Hunt and Sammy Chesworth all came 2nd in the boys relay.
Hadyn Jenkins, Adam Hewitt, Reuben and Mani came 2nd in the year 6 boys relay!
It was a fantastic Town Sports and I'm proud of everybody who took part!
This year we had gone up a group, meaning we were now in Group A — the highest group you can be in! This meant we were facing much bigger schools than us. But Wybunbury being Wybunbury, that didn't stop us! We managed a fantastic overall finish of 6th place out of 12 schools. This means that we keep our place in Group A and stay in the top group! Well done to everybody, that is a massive achievement.
We had a celebration assembly where all of the Town Sports team received a huge round of applause from everybody at the school, well done again guys! Thanks for being such a great team.
A huge thank you must also go to the staff who came on both nights and all the parents who came along to cheer on our Wybunbury team!
Bring on next year! GO WYBUNBURY!
P.S if you have anymore pictures from Town Sports please email them into the office so I can put them on the website! Thank you
